Steelpointe Foodland
A full architectural metal canopy package for Steelpointe Foodland, a 24-hour supermarket — cantilevered entrance canopy, cable-stay window awnings, a long covered customer walkway on steel columns, and a brick signage tower. Designed, fabricated and installed by our own crews.
The project
Architectural metal canopy package
Steelpointe Foodland is the largest single canopy package we have delivered, and it is the clearest example of what a full architectural metal scope looks like on one building. The entrance canopy is cantilevered — it carries its own load back to the facade, so there are no columns in the doorway and nothing for a shopping cart to catch. Along the brick elevation, cable-stay window awnings pick up the same black finish and hold the horizontal line the length of the storefront. The covered customer walkway runs on steel columns from the entrance out across the frontage, which is the part that actually gets used every day in Connecticut weather. All of it was drawn, welded and installed by us — one shop, so the canopy, the awnings and the walkway read as one continuous piece of architecture rather than three trades meeting in the middle.
