Commercial awning FAQs
Do you work from our architect’s plans?
Yes. We build from your architect’s or general contractor’s drawings, and we can design from scratch if there are no plans yet. Either way you get permit-ready, code-compliant drawings for the awning or canopy package.
Should a storefront use a fabric awning or a metal canopy?
Both work — it depends on the look and the opening. Architectural metal reads permanent and sharp, and suits entrances and new builds. Fabric is lighter, costs less to engineer, can follow curves that rigid metal cannot, and can be recovered later instead of replaced. There is also a third option: our standing-seam “Metal Look” fabric awning, which gives the architectural metal appearance in lightweight fabric.
Will the project need a permit?
Commercial awnings and canopies usually do, and requirements vary by town. We supply permit-ready drawings for the package and work to the local code so your GC or sign company can file without a redesign.
Can our logo and branding go on the awning?
Yes. Dimensional lettering and awning graphics are part of what we fabricate in-house, which is how an awning becomes a 24-hour sign. Colors are matched to your brand and printed or applied on solution-dyed fabric so they hold up outdoors.
Who actually does the installation?
Our own Connecticut crews. We are not a broker — we design it, fabricate it in our Manchester shop, and install it ourselves, which is also why we can service what we build.
Do you handle work for national and multi-location brands?
Yes. Recent commercial work includes storefront and entrance canopy packages for Chipotle, Whole Foods, Club Pilates, KMM Precision Measuring, and the full architectural package at Steelpointe Foodland.
What happens when the fabric eventually wears out?
You recover it rather than replace the whole awning. We inspect and rehab the existing frame, then fit a new custom-sewn cover with your same graphics — at a fraction of the cost of starting over.
