The Metal Look — common questions
Is The Metal Look actually metal?
No — and that is the point. It is a custom awning fabric engineered to read as a standing-seam metal canopy from the street, with the same crisp vertical ribs and clean lines, at a fraction of the weight.
How is it different from a real standing-seam metal canopy?
It gives the same architectural look, but it is far lighter, so it is easier to engineer and mounts cleanly with less structure. It can also follow curves and radiuses that rigid metal cannot, it turns around faster, and it comes in at a more competitive price.
Can it follow a curved storefront?
Yes, and this is where it beats metal outright. The fabric flexes into curves and radiuses that a metal shop would have to fabricate around or refuse. Every one is built to your exact opening.
Will the colour fade in the Connecticut sun?
We build these in 100% solution-dyed acrylic, where the colour goes through the fibre rather than sitting on the surface. That is what holds colour through Connecticut summers and winters instead of washing out.
What finishes and colours can we choose?
Your colour, in an acrylic or vinyl finish. Because we fabricate in-house we are matching to your brand or your building rather than picking from a short catalogue list.
What happens when the fabric eventually wears out?
You recover it rather than replace the whole structure. We inspect and rehab the frame, then fit a new cover — including the standing-seam profile and any graphics — at a fraction of the cost of starting over.
